Bachelor's Degrees

The Bachelor's Degree is the most traditional degree given by four year colleges and universities. It generally takes between 4 and 5 years of full-time college coursework to receive this type of degree.

The two most common types of Bachelor's degrees are

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) comprised of Liberal Arts Classes.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) comprised of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics.

A big benefit of pursuing a Bachelor's Degree is the amount of time allowed for choosing a specialization. A "major" is not selected until the end of the second year, so students have plenty of time to experiment with different classes and departments, really "trying out" different disciplines to see which might be the best fit for them. Following the declaration, a set number of classes or units within the major, along with any university requirements, must be completed.

A Bachelor's degree is the best way to open doors to a continuing education, such as a Master's, MBA, or Doctoral degree. But you can also begin working and earning money immediately after graduation; statistics show that graduates with their Bachelor's degree earn almost double the amount of those who only have a high school diploma, and one-third more than those who only have some post-high school education, making it a compelling choice.
